About this tool

CAGR = (Ending value ÷ Starting value)^(1 ÷ Years) − 1. For example, an investment that grows from ₹1,00,000 to ₹2,50,000 in 5 years has a CAGR of about 20.1% a year. CAGR smooths out the ups and downs, so real year-to-year returns are different. It does not account for money you add or withdraw in between. For regular SIP investments, XIRR is a better measure and this tool does not calculate it.

Is CAGR the same as average return?
