About this tool

This tool reads the text that is stored inside the PDF and puts it into a Word document, with larger lines shown as headings and page breaks kept between pages. It does not recreate the layout, so columns, tables, pictures and shapes are not carried over, and you may need to tidy up the result. It works only on PDFs that contain real text. A scanned PDF is just a picture of a page, so there is no text to extract and it will show a message instead. Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened.

Frequently asked questions

Does it keep the layout and tables?

No. It keeps the text, paragraphs and headings, but not tables, pictures or the exact layout. For a layout-perfect copy you need desktop software.

Why does it say my PDF has no readable text?

The PDF is probably a scan or made of pictures. This tool needs a PDF with real text. Text in scanned PDFs needs OCR, which this tool does not do.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The conversion happens in your browser.

Does it work with Hindi text?

It copies the text exactly as stored in the PDF. Some PDFs store Hindi in a way that does not copy correctly, so please check the result.

Which programs open the file?

Microsoft Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice and most word processors.
