About this tool
The calculator treats each monthly instalment as invested at the start of the month and applies a fixed return, compounded monthly. The future value is P ร [((1 + i)^n โ 1) / i] ร (1 + i), where P is the monthly amount, i is the monthly rate (yearly rate รท 12) and n is the number of months. For example, โน5,000 a month for 10 years at 12% a year comes to about โน11.6 lakh, of which โน6 lakh is your own money. Real mutual funds do not give a steady return, so the actual result can be higher or lower. The estimate ignores taxes, exit loads and fund charges, so please treat it as a rough guide and not as advice.
Frequently asked questions
How is SIP return calculated?
Each monthly instalment grows at the monthly rate until the end of the period, and the totals are added up. The formula is P ร [((1 + i)^n โ 1) / i] ร (1 + i).
What return should I enter?
Nobody can promise a return. Mutual fund returns change every year. Try a few different values, including low ones, to see a range instead of relying on one number.
Is the SIP return guaranteed?
No. Mutual fund investments are subject to market risk. This tool only shows an estimate using the return you type in.
Does this calculator include tax?
No. Taxes on gains, exit loads and expense ratios are not included, so your actual amount may be different.
What is the difference between SIP and lump sum?
A SIP invests a fixed amount every month. A lump sum invests the full amount at once. This tool calculates SIP only.
Is my data stored anywhere?
No. The calculation happens in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
