- To reach a file size limit, type the maximum size in KB.
- Click Resize image, check the preview, and download it.
About this tool
The tool changes the pixel size of your picture and, if you give a maximum file size, finds the best JPG or WebP quality that still fits under it. If the file is still too large at the lowest quality, it also reduces the picture size a little until it fits. PNG files cannot be reduced to a set size, so a size limit always saves a JPG. Transparent areas become white in JPG. Requirements for forms and exams differ, so always check the exact size, format and file size asked by the form you are filling.
Frequently asked questions
How do I reduce a photo to 50 KB?
Choose the image, type 50 in Maximum file size (or pick Under 50 KB), and click Resize image. The tool finds the best quality that fits.
Can I resize without losing quality?
Making a picture smaller always loses some detail, but keeping the proportions and a high quality setting gives the best result. Enlarging a picture cannot add detail.
How do I make a passport size photo?
Pick the passport photo option, which gives 413 × 531 px (35 × 45 mm at 300 dpi) and crops your picture to fit. Check the exact size your form needs.
What is the difference between fit and crop?
Fit inside keeps the whole picture and its proportions. Crop to fill gives the exact size by cutting off the edges. Stretch changes the size and can distort the picture.
Which formats are supported?
You can open JPG, PNG and WebP pictures and save as JPG, PNG or WebP.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. The resizing happens in your browser, and the image never leaves your device.
