Free Image Compressor

Make photos smaller so they upload faster and fit size limits on forms and websites. Choose an image, adjust the quality slider, and download the compressed version. Your image never leaves your device.

How to use Image Compressor

  1. Choose an image from your phone or computer.
  2. Move the quality slider. Lower quality gives a smaller file.
  3. Check the before and after size, then click Download Compressed Image.

About this tool

The image is re-saved as a JPEG at the quality you choose, and it keeps its original width and height. Transparent areas in PNG images become white. Because the compression runs entirely in your browser, your photos are not uploaded to any server.

Frequently asked questions

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. The image is processed inside your browser and never leaves your device.

What quality should I choose?

Around 60 to 80 percent usually gives a much smaller file with little visible difference. Lower it further if you need a stricter size limit.

Does it change the image dimensions?

No. Width and height stay the same. Only the quality, and therefore the file size, changes.

Why did my file not get smaller?

If the original image was already heavily compressed, saving it again can give a similar or even larger file. Try a lower quality setting.

What format is the output?

JPEG. Transparent areas in PNG images are filled with white.
