How to Make Passport Size Photos at Home

You can make passport-size photos from one picture and print a full sheet at any photo shop or on your own printer.

Take a good source photo

Step by step

  1. Open the Passport Photo Maker.
  2. Choose your photo.
  3. Select the size. Common choices are 35 x 45 mm and 2 x 2 inch. You can also type a custom size in millimetres.
  4. Drag and zoom so your face is centred in the frame.
  5. Pick a print sheet (4 x 6 inch or A4) and download it.
  6. Print at 100% scale, with no "fit to page" option.

Check the size your form needs

Photo rules differ between passports, visas, exams and job forms. Always read the exact size and background colour the form asks for. If it needs a small file size for online upload, reduce the photo with the Image Resizer or Image Compressor.

Frequently asked questions

What is the common passport photo size?

35 x 45 mm is widely used, and 2 x 2 inch is used for some visas. Always confirm with the issuing office or form.

Why should I print at 100% scale?

Printing with fit-to-page changes the physical size of each photo, so it will not match the required dimensions.

Can I use a phone photo?

Yes, if it is sharp, well lit and taken straight on. Avoid filters and heavy beautification.
